Bertil Uggla

Bertil Uggla ( Bertil Gustafsson Uggla, born August 19, 1890 in Solna, † September 29, 1945 in Karlstad ) was a Swedish pole vaulter, fencer and modern pentathlete.

In the pole vault Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 he was charged with 3.80 m Fourth, together with Frank Murphy and William Halpenny, behind the gold medalist Harry Babcock (3.95 m) and the silver medalists Frank Nelson and Marc Wright (3.85 m). Notwithstanding the normal practices were the three fourth placed a bronze medal ( Halpenny had been injured in the case in the inadequately secured mine ).

At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 he won the bronze medal in the modern pentathlon.

Three times he took part in Olympic fencing competitions: in 1920 in Antwerp he parted with his sword in both the single and in the team competition out in the first round. In Paris in 1924 came in the team competition again in the first round the corner. 1928 in Amsterdam, he was the foil in the individual ranking twelfth, but failed in épée with the team again in the first round.

1909, 1911 and 1912, he was national champion in the pole vault.
