Frank Murphy (pole vaulter)

Frank Murphy ( born September 21, 1889 in East Chicago, Indiana, † June 11, 1980 in Urbana, Illinois) was an American pole vaulter.

At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 he was charged with 3.80 m Fourth, together with Bertil Uggla and William Halpenny, behind gold medalist Harry Babcock (3.95 m) and the silver medalists Frank Nelson and Marc Wright (3.85 m). Notwithstanding the normal practices were the three fourth placed a bronze medal ( Halpenny had been injured in the case in the inadequately secured mine ).

Frank Murphy was a graduate of the University of Illinois.
