Bertrand Marchand (* April 27, 1953 in Dinan ) is a retired French footballer and current coach.

Playing career

In 13 years Bertrand Marchand worked for three French football clubs. He played the first 8 years for Stade Rennes, with half of that time was completed in the highest French league. He then moved to the second division for football club in the small town Montmorillon. Two years later, Marchand went a league low at that third division and today Amateuerverein Thouars Foot 79

Coaching career

In 1985, he finished with 32 years of his time as an active football player and took over as coach at Thouars Foot 79 whole twelve years he remained faithful to his club until he was obliged by his then first professional club Stade Rennes. Although the successes forthcoming, Marchand has established itself over five years as manager of first division. In 2002 he went to league rivals EA Guingamp. After the club in 2003 could reach the 7th place, he rose from 2004 and dismissed the Frenchman as a coach. Marchand Then moved abroad for the first time and was manager of Club Africain Tunis, one of the most successful Tunisian football clubs. In 2006 he reached with the team reaching the final of the National Cup, but lost with 4:5 in a penalty shootout against Espérance Sportive de Tunis. Since 2007, Marchand trained with Étoile Sportive du Sahel another very successful Tunisian club. In his first season he succeeded there besides winning the championship and the triumph in the African Champions League. In the final leg defeated his team Al- Ahly of Egypt 3-1 ( first leg 0-0). In the following season, and the African Super Cup was won. After the season, he took over the coaching job at Al -Khor Sports Club in the Qatar Stars League. In June 2010, Marchand was replaced by his compatriot Alain Perrin and has been coach of the Tunisian national football team
