Biessenhofen–Füssen railway

The railway line Biessenhofen - feet is a single-track and non-electrified branch line in Bavaria, it connects as a spur track feet with the village Biessenhofen at the Allgäu Railway. The section Biessenhofen market Oberndorf was opened in 1876 by the Royal Bavarian State Railways. On June 1, 1889, the extension was to Füssen in operation, but it was built and operated by the private local railway Aktien-Gesellschaft (LAG ). After their bankruptcy finally the section on market Oberdorf- feet was nationalized on 1 August 1938. The route will be operated today by Deutsche Bahn AG and is referred to by this as König-Ludwig -Bahn.

Steam locomotive LAG 7 " feet"

From the early days of the railway market Oberdorf- feet comes the steam locomotive LAG 7 " feet". The built at Krauss 1889 C- coupler was implemented in 1911 to also run by the LAG railway Niederbiegen - Baienfurt -Weingarten, this was re-opened in the same year. In 1928 she was finally sold to the paper mill in Baienfurt, it is still preserved. She is the oldest operable steam locomotive in Germany and runs since 2002 on loan for the Bavarian Railway Museum in Nördlingen in regular use.

Operation

The route is operated along the entire length each every two hours of regional express trains between Munich and feet as well as regional trains between Augsburg and feet, resulting in an hour. In addition go from Monday to Friday single regional trains as an amplifier trains from Augsburg or Kaufbeuren to market Oberndorf. The breakpoint market Oberndorf school is operated by individual trains. For use DMUs Class 642 and Class 218 diesel locomotives are of n cars.
