Geography

Biessenhofen lies in the planning region Allgäu.

There are the following districts: Biessenhofen, Ebenhofen, Altdorf, Hörmanshofen and the hamlets Kreen and white.

The town is located near the Bachtelsees and Bear Lake.

History

The village was mentioned in documents for the first time as Villa Buosahoua in 929. Biessenhofen belonged to the Abbey of Kempten and from 1610 to the Bishopric of Augsburg. There was also at today's municipality established 1551 from the remnants of domination by Kemnat Simprecht of Benzenau small rule Ottilienberg with the center village and court Altdorf. Since the Imperial Diet of 1803, the locations are in the municipal area to Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818 the municipality. In 1852 Biessenhofen connection was to the railroad. On December 23, 1976, the name of the village of Altdorf was officially changed to Biessenhofen. The new name of the community was established only after a citizen heard by a government decree.

Various dairy products were produced (formerly including the "bear brand "). Meanwhile, the main part of the production of hypoallergenic infant formulas and Instantbreien (Trade Alete and Beba ), clinical oral nutritional supplement (brand Clinutren ) and soups and sauces (trade Thomy Les Sauces) and since 2004 also drink coffee products (brand Nescafé Xpress ). Traffic

The Biessenhofen train station is conveniently located at the intersection of two railroad lines: One is the Bavarian Allgäu train from Munich to Lindau ( see also Ludwig South - North Railway from Lindau via Kempten towards Augsburg and on to Nuremberg), one of the oldest Bavarian railway lines. Since most trains now turn from Buchloe to Munich, one also has to go port. After the railway line Biessenhofen feet - feet branches ( König-Ludwig -Bahn ). Biessenhofen is therefore an important transit or commuter train station in the Allgäu.
