Bionic is the sixth studio album by American singer Christina Aguilera. It was released on June 4, 2010. Bionic is Aguilera's first studio album in four years since Back to Basics from the year 2006. She has worked with various producers and songwriters, including Linda Perry and Polow da Don. The album contains several different music genres like R & B, pop, electropop and synthpop.

Formation
On the Back to Basics Tour in summer 2007 Aguilera expressed that their upcoming album would be " short, sweet and totally different" from their last album Back to Basics. After the birth of her son, she stated in an interview with Ryan Seacrest that her upcoming album will show due to her pregnancy, a completely new aspect of herself as an artist.
Commercial success
Bionic debuted at # 3 on the Billboard 200, with 110,000 copies sold. Compared to their last album, Back to Basics, from the during the first week 346,000 copies were sold, the sales were significantly lower. In the next week the album fell to number 9 and in the third week at No. 22 Overall, the album sold 308,000 times in the United States. The album debuted in Canada also # 3 on the charts.
In the UK, Bionic debuted on June 13, 2010 at # 1, but with 24,000 copies sold was the lowest- selling number-one album in the UK for eight years. In the second week the album fell to 28 seats, which was a negative record in the history of the UK charts. Bionic debuted at # 3 in Australia, where it was certified gold for 35,000 copies sold.
The album reached number 8 in Italy and # 6 in Germany. It reached the top 20 in Denmark and Norway. The album debuted at number one in Greece. It reached the Top 10 in Austria, Poland, Finland, Ireland, New Zealand, Mexico and Sweden. In France managed Bionic at # 23 and was sold there a total of 10,000 times.
Criticism
Bionic was recorded mixed. On the Metacritic page, the album received 56 out of 100 points based on 21 reviews. Eric Henderson of Slant Magazine said that the album " effectively a Popunterhaltung " is like Britney Spears' Circus. Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone gave the album two and a half out of five stars and criticized the " Gaga - style robot glam ". Entertainment Weekly called Bionic is the fifth worst album of 2010.
