Bishops' Conference of France

The French Episcopal Conference (French: Conférence des Evêques de France) was created from the former congregation of cardinals and archbishops of France ( 1945-1966 ) and is since 1966 the constant Bishops' Conference of all the bishops of the Roman Catholic Church in France. She is a member of the Council of European Bishops 'Conferences (CCEE ) and is represented in the Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Community ( COMECE).

Task

The French Bishops' Conference defined their attention and their focus work on the encounter in faith, on the education of children and youth on the family together and to life in Christian community. It addresses issues for society and promote solidarity with the churches of the world.

Working basis

Based on the regulations of the Second Vatican Council, the French Bishops' Conference was founded. It is an episcopal conference and gathering of all French bishops and has responded to the receipt of the churches as apostolic task. You should direct its tasks and methods at the given time and serve the good of the faithful. Their livelihoods is anchored from 1983, the modalities and functions of the Bishops' Conferences are laid down in the Code of Canon Law (CIC). The Episcopal Assembly is no intermediary of the French episcopate and the Holy See.

Permanent Council

The " Permanent Council " consists of the President, the two Vice-Presidents and five other elected members of the College of Bishops, together. It prepares the meetings of the Bishops' Conference and is responsible for the implementation of the plenary sessions. The Council meets in June and September

Committee

The Committee for Studies and Projects was established in 2005 and meets on the eve of the plenary sessions. It monitors the ongoing work and projects, defines the duration of the meetings and monitors the financial provisions.
