Bjørn Skaare

Bjørn Skaare ( born October 29, 1958 in Oslo, † June 21, 1989 ) was a Norwegian ice hockey player who played in his playing days from 1976 to 1988 among others for the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League.

Career

Bjørn Skaare began his career as a hockey player with Färjestad BK, for the first team, he made his debut in the Swedish Elitserien in the 1976/77 season. Then the attacker spent a year at the Ottawa 67 's of the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey Association before he was selected in the NHL Amateur Draft 1978 in the fourth round as a total 62 players from the Detroit Red Wings. For the team from Michigan, he was the first Norwegians in the 1978/79 season in a game of the National Hockey League on the ice, and this also remained his only use. The remaining time in the franchise Detroit he spent at their farm team of the Central Hockey League, the Kansas City Red Wings. After this season, he left North America again and returned for two years in his native Norway, where he took in the GET ligaen for Furuset IF, with whom he won the national championship for the first time in the 1979/80 season.

After Skaare had spent the 1981/82 season at the EC KAC in the Austrian Hockey League, for whom he scored 38 goals in 38 games and also gave 38 templates, he wrote again in Furuset from the Norwegian capital Oslo, which in 1983 again champion and for whom he played until 1985. The 1983/84 season ended the national team and Olympic athletes, however, in the CHL Tulsa Oilers in, but left the team after the dissolution of the League in the summer after only eleven games again. Up to end of his career after the 1987/88 season Skaare stood beside Furuset even in the mountains / Djerv and SK Djerv in the first divisjon under contract. On June 21, 1989, he died at the age of 30 years following a car accident near his home town of Oslo.

Internationally

For Norway Skaare participated in Sarajevo to the B World Championships in 1979 and 1981 and the 1984 Winter Olympics.
