Bobby Jones (basketball, born 1984)

Bobby Ray Jones, Jr. ( born January 9, 1984 in Compton, California) is an American professional basketball player.

Playing career

Bobby Jones played four years for the University of Washington. In 125 games, he scored an average of 9.8 points and 4.9 rebounds. After the 2005/ 06 season, he was honored with an All Pacific -10 Honorable Mention. His 1,226 career points for Washington are ranked at the 20th place in the school leaderboard. In addition, he finished fourth in steals (134).

Jones was originally in the 2006 NBA Draft in the second round (37th pick ) drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves. The right to him, however, were discharged from the Timberwolves to the Philadelphia 76ers (in exchange for a second-round draft pick in the NBA Draft 2007), for which he then played in the 2006/07 season in the NBA. Briefly, he was sent to the NBA Development League for the Fort Worth Flyers.

On 10 September 2007 he was discharged together with Steven Hunter of the Denver Nuggets. In return, Philadelphia Reggie Evans and the draft rights to Ricky Sanchez received. On 7 January 2008 Jones was dismissed from the Nuggets.

After several tens of days contracts in the NBA (Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs ) and some time in the NBA D -League with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Jones was on April 11, again a contract with the Denver Nuggets, for he started the season 2007/ 08.

For the 2009/2010 season, he moved to Europe to Teramo Basket. Since then he has played for several clubs in Italy.
