Bogève

Bogève is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Bogève is located on 917 m above sea level. M., about 22 km east of the city of Geneva (air line). The village is located in the upper part of the valley of the Foron, at the northern foot of the Pointe des Brasses in the northwestern Savoy Alps; it belongs to the area of the Vallée Verte.

The area of ​​7.00 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the western Chablais Alps. The area is drained by the Foron and its headwaters to the south towards Arve Valley. To the north the municipality area extends over a broad saddle in the catchment area of ​​Menoge in the Vallée Verte. This saddle is in the west of the hill Le Perret ( 1072 m above sea level. History

With the Canton Boëge Bogève moved in 1939 from district to district Bonneville Thonon -les- Bains.

Attractions

The village church was built in 1832 on the site of an earlier church. In La Fargueusaz is a chapel from 1860, which is privately owned and therefore can not be visited.

Population

With 1064 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Bogève is one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. A continuous strong growth of the population since the early 1980s has been recorded thanks to the beautiful residential area. Outside the old town center created numerous houses.
