Bohunice (Prachatice District)

Bohunice ( German Bohonitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 13 kilometers north of Prachatice and belongs to Okres Prachatice.

Geography

Bohunice is located at the confluence of the Čepřovický and Pohořský creek to creek Dubský in the hills of the Šumava foothills. To the east of the town rises on a 683 m high hill, the Helfenburk.

Neighboring towns are Čepřovice in the north, Jiřetice in the northeast, Koječín in the east, Javornice and dub in the southeast, Tvrzice in the south, Bušanovice in the southwest, and Všechlapy Kamenná in the west and Kakovice in the northwest.

History

Bohonice was first mentioned in the year 1315.

After the abolition of patrimonial Bohonice formed in 1850 a part of the community Tvrsice in Strakonice district. In 1930 the town became an independent municipality under the new name Bohunice. Since 1950 belongs to the Bohunice Okres Prachatice. In 1961, the re- incorporation to Tvrzice; since 24 November 1990, the municipality Bohunice there again.
