Bollnäs Municipality

Bollnäs is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Gävleborg and the historical province of Hälsingland. The main town of the municipality is Bollnäs.

Through the community's main roads Reichsstrasse lead 83 in the north-south direction, and the National Highway 50 (gen. Bergslagsdiagonalen ) in west-east direction and the main railway line between Stockholm - Ånge ( Norra stambanan ).

Geography

The municipality extends partially along the river Ljusnan about 70 kilometers from north to south. It is located in the foothills of the Scandinavian Mountains. Forest -covered heights change with agricultural plains. In the south of the congregation, the Swedish mountain region begins with a valley called " Norrland porten " ( Nordlandstor Shot of the North)

History

Bollnäs was first mentioned in 1312 by a vicar named Ingemund, who described the place as Baldenaes. Bollnäs received its town charter in 1942 as the places Bollnäs and Björkhamre united to a city. The present size was the municipality with the local government reform in 1974, when the city Bollnäs was merged with three smaller communities.

Economy

Agriculture and forestry play an important role in some parts of the municipality. The municipality is industrialized only weakly with industrial sites in Arbrå, Bollnäs and Kilafors. By contrast, the service sector is highly developed.
