Bonboillon

Bonboillon is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Bonboillon situated at an altitude of 280 m above sea level, 8 km northwest of Marnay and about 27 km west-northwest of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village extends to the south of the department, on the plateau to the west of the Monts de Gy expands.

The area of ​​4.44 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the gently undulating countryside between the valleys of Ognon in the south and Saône in the north. The main part of the area is occupied by a plateau, which is on average 270 m. It is composed of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous beds of the upper Jurassic and the Tertiary. The whole area shows no surface watercourses. It is used predominantly agricultural, but there are also some forest areas, including the Bois de la Feole in the West. To the south, the municipality's area covers the slopes of the Mont With 297 m is here the highest elevation of Bonboillon achieved.

Neighboring communities of Bonboillon are Cugney in the north, Tromarey in the east, Hugier in the south, Chancey in the southwest and Venère in the northwest.

History

In the Middle Ages Bonboillon belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government has held the barony Choye. Together with the Franche -Comté Bonboillon came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Since 2002 Bonboillon is a member of the 15 localities municipal association Communauté de communes de la Vallée de l' Ognon.

Attractions

The village church of Bonboillon was rebuilt in the 18th century and includes a statue of St. Nicholas from the 16th century.

Population

With 197 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Bonboillon one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 199 people were still counted ), a continuous population growth was recorded since the mid-1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Bonboillon was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards, vineyards and livestock ) embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village has good transport links. It lies at the junction of the main roads D67 (Besançon - Gray ) and D12 ( Pesmes - Gy). Through a local bypass the village core is relieved of through traffic. Another road connection with Hugier.
