Boniface Toroitich Kiprop

Boniface Kiprop Toroitich (born 12 October 1985 in Kwirwot, Kapchorwa District ) is a Ugandan long-distance runner.

He was African junior champion in 5000 2001 - Junior Champion and runner-up in the 10,000 -meter run and 2003 junior champion over both distances. From 2002 to 2004, he landed the junior race of the IAAF World Cross Country Championships three times on a podium place: 2002 in Dublin, he won bronze in 2003 in Avenches and 2004 in Brussels silver. Also in 2004 he became Junior World Champion in the 10,000 m.

Although he failed in the World Athletics Championships in 2003 over 5000 m in the flow, in the following year, but he was fourth in the 10,000 m at the Olympic Games in Athens. Shortly thereafter, he improved the Junior world record over 10,000 m on 27:04,00 min.

He finished seventh at the 2005 Cross Country Championships, was at the World Championships in Helsinki Eleventh about 5000 and fourth in the 10,000 m and improved Uganda's 10,000 m record 26:39,77 min.

At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, he won gold; at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, he came over the same distance to tenth place.

Boniface Kiprop Toroitich belongs to the tribe of Sebei who belong to the ethnic group of the Kalenjin and live on the western slopes of Mount Elgon. He has in his home established a training camp, to which his friend Moses Ndiema Kipsiro heard. Like him, he is looked after by the English company PACE Sports Management. The older brother of Boniface, Martin Toroitich is also successful as a long distance runner.
