Boroughmuir RFC

The Boroughmuir Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club that plays in the Scottish Hydro Electric Premiership. The home games are played in Meggetland, Edinburgh.

The club was founded in 1919. At that time you did not have your own place and so often had to change the venue. 1939 Boroughmuir became a full member of the Scottish Rugby Union, shortly before the outbreak of World War II, which brought to a halt the operation of gambling in Scotland. After the war, the club played regularly at Meggetland, from 1952 also floodlit. A year later, he took part in the unofficial Scottish Cup for the first time.

At the beginning of the 1960s the Boroughmuir RFC had become so many members that six men's teams could compete weekly. 1961 emerged the first national team from the ranks of the association. 1973 changed much in league play in Scotland through the creation of an official league structure by the Scottish Association. Boroughmuir was placed in the first division.

1980 built the club a grandstand, locker rooms and a new place in Meggetland. In 1986, the flood light was modernized. In the 1990/91 season Boroughmuir was first champion. In 1999, he got off for the first time, but returned one year later. In the years 2003 and 2008, you could win the championship again.
