Bożenice

Bożenice ( German name Bosens ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship and is part of the urban and rural community Polanów ( Pollnow ) in the district of Koszalin ( Koszalin ).

Geographical location

Bożenice located in Eastern Pomerania on the east-west road that Sowno (Alt Zowen ) and Laski ( Latzig ) with Krąg ( Krag ) in the province road 205 ( Darłowo (Rügenwalde ) - Sławno ( Schlawe ) - Bobolice ( Bublitz ) ) connects. Up to the city of Koszalin, there are 34 km.

Until 1945 was Latzig railway station on the narrow-gauge railway track Schlawe - Pollnow - Sydow Schlawer the railways and Krag - Bussin at the National Railroad route Schivelbein ( Świdwin ) - Gramenz ( Grzmiąca ) - Bublitz ( Bobolice ) - Zollbrueck ( Korzybie ).

Neighboring towns of Bożenice are: in the west Laski ( Latzig ), in the north Zielenica ( Söllnitz ) and Drzeńsko ( Drenzig ), to the east Komorowo ( Kummerow ) and in the south Bukowo ( (Wendish ) Buckow ) with Rzyszczewko (small Ristow ).

The district of Bożenice is flat wavy with elevations 143-169 meters above sea level.

Place name

Bosens had formerly the name of the form Bosentz. An interpretation of the name is uncertain.

History

Prehistoric findings suggest that an early settlement. But the place until 1590 was first mentioned in the Pfarrmatrikeln. Until 1842 the village fief of those Podewils in Krag. After that, change hands frequently. Last owner was 1914-1945 Enno Weissbach ( as the sender form on envelopes in the spelling Weisbach ).

In 1818 lived in Bosens 84 inhabitants. Their number increased to 1885 to 284 in 1939 and was even 313

Before 1945 Bosens belonged to the district of Krag, the registry office Kummerow and District Court Schlawe. The village was i Pom district Schlawe. in the district of the Prussian province of Pomerania Pomerania. The manor belonged total of 935 hectares of land in 1939, the people's houses lay in the eastern part, in the western part of the town. To the church Bosens the estate village Kummerow was attached to a district.

After 1945 Bosens came up with the name Bożenice under Polish sovereignty. The village is today a district of the city and rural municipality Polanów in powiat Koszaliński in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship ( to 1998 Koszalin Voivodeship ). The village has about 150 inhabitants.

Church

The inhabitants of Bosens before 1945 were almost all Protestant denomination. However, the village had no own church. Bosens belonged with Drenzig and (Wendish ) Buckow to the church in Kummerow, which in turn - was incorporated into the parish Krag - with the Church Zirchow ( with Latzig ). It belonged to the church Schlawe the Church of the Old Prussian Union. Last German clergyman was William Vedder.

Since 1945, the population of Bożenice is predominantly Catholic. The village still belongs to the branch church Komorowo that is integrated but now in the parish Bukowo Polanowskie ( (Wendish ) Buckow ). It is in the deanery in the Diocese of Koszalin - Kolobrzeg Polanów of the Catholic Church in Poland. The few Protestant inhabitants are members of the Church community Koszalin ( Koszalin ) in the Diocese of Pomerania - Greater Poland the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland.

School

The Bosener children had first lessons in Kummerow, but later in her home village. Since 1842 there has been a common school construction between Bosens and Kummerow, and in 1890 a second teaching position was established here. Last German headmaster before 1945 was Hermann Schäfer.
