Branice (Písek District)

Branice ( German Branitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers south of Milevsko in South Bohemia and belongs to Okres Pisek.

Geography

Branice is on the left side of the creek Branicky creek in the south of belonging to the Central Bohemian hills Milevská pahorkatina. To the north- east lies the pond Ostrovský rybnik, east of Velky Prachovský fishpond. To the northeast, the Lomy rises (518 m), in the south of Šlahoun (514 m), the southwest Mladšiny (535 m) and in the northwest of the Jirouškův vrch (552 m) and the Obora (570 m). On the eastern outskirts of the village the railway line Tábor Pisek of the village runs, one kilometer east of the main road II/105 between Milevsko and Bernartice.

Neighboring towns are Rukáveč and Milevsko in the north, Okrouhlá, Líšnice, Zalerna, Ostrov, U Kunců and Sepekov in the northeast, Lanka, Libeňák, Prachov Zálší and Křižanov in the east, Jestrebice, Veselíčko and Bilina the southeast, U Zárubů, V Soudném, Bojenice, Křenovice, Horni Rastory and Dolni Rastory in the south, Podolí I Myslivna, Jižiny, Podolí Stehlovice the southwest, Skalka, Vusi, Pazderna and Dolnice in the west and Tyrolský dum and Květov in the northwest.

History

Branice was probably founded by archaeological finds dating to the period 1240-1260 in the middle of the 13th century as a settlement on the Bechyne gate. The traditions after Branice was in 1306 at the time of Abbot Henry to the possessions of the Premonstratensian Mühlhausen. The monastery was destroyed in 1420 by the Hussites, where all documents were lost. Then the Klingenberg castle count Jan Hájek of Hodětín slammed the orphaned monastic estates of royal rule Klingenberg. When in 1430 the Hussites besieged castle Klingenberg, pledged by King Sigismund the reign of Ulrich II von Rosenberg because he feared that his Burggraf Kunata Kapler would soon spill over to the insurgents. Henry V of Rosenberg gave in 1473 a quarter of the possessions of the house Rosenberg, among them, the Klingenberg Pawn, his cousin Bohuslav V. of Swan Mountain. The first documentary evidence of Branice dated 1488th In 1575 Christoph bought by Swan Mountain on Worlik the reigns Klingenberg and Mulhouse from the Exchequer and combined this with Worlik. After the Battle of White Mountain, the estate of Peter of swan mountain was confiscated and 1621, the Eggenberger owner of the domain. After 1717 the Eggenberger extinguished in the male line, the Haus Schwarzenberg inherited their possessions. Branice to 1736 was the seat of a magistrate who exercised the lower courts in Jetětice, Jickovice, Kučeř, Květov, Osek Rukáveč, Stehlovice, Velka, and Vusi. In 1840 Branitz consisted of 21 houses with 218 inhabitants. Vicarage was Bernarditz. Until the mid- 19th century the village was always submissive as part of the rule Klingenberg to Fideikommissherrschaft Worlik including the Allodialgütern Zalužan, Zbenitz and Bukowan.

After the abolition of patrimonial Branice / Branitz formed in 1850 a municipality in the district and in the judicial district Milevsko. After the abolition of Okres Milevsko Branice was assigned to the Okres Pisek end of 1960. In 1961, the incorporation of Křižanov and Okrouhlá. Both villages broke away in 1990 or 1993 then release and formed their own community.

  • Chapel of St. Wenceslas on the village street, built in 1881
  • Chapel of the Holy Cross, built in 1931 in the park to commemorate the fallen of the First World War. Next to the chapel there is a powerful protected lime and a cross. After the local chronicle should have stood the Holy Cross on an old cemetery of the site in the 17th century a chapel. As in 1929, a storm knocked over one of the two old lime tree, under their root system of human bones were found.
