Braylon Edwards

Braylon Jamel Edwards ( born February 21, 1983 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American professional American football player at the position of wide receiver. He plays for the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League ( NFL).

College

Before college Edwards attended Bishop Gallagher High School in Harper Woods, Michigan. From there he went to three years on the University of Michigan. At the University he played his first year in the football team. In his first year, he became but hardly used and came then only on a count of three caught passes. But in his second season of the breakthrough followed the team of Wolverins. Edwards was used in all regular season games from Michigan and started doing 67 passes that he could use for a space gain of 1035 yards. At the end of the season he won additionally the Outback Bowl with his team. The following year, then in 2003 he was even able to increase its performance again with 85 caught passes and the increasing latitude of 1138 yards. He succeeded in the following season as well, which he was one of only nine players in the history of college football, which managed to score more than 1000 yards space gain in a row three years. In addition, he was in his last year with the Fred Biletnikoff Award, for the best wide receiver in college football, awarded at the college and elected to the All-American First Team. Edwards won further with the Wolverins in the years 2003 and 2004 the Rose Bowl.

Professional career

Cleveland Browns

The rookie season

After Edwards was selected in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns in third place overall, it took some time before he signed his contract there, which is why he missed the start of pre-season training almost complete. When the season had then begun Edwards was at first Wide Reciver number three in the hierarchy of Browns behind Antonio Bryant and Dennis Northcutt. Therefore, he came first hardly used and in the meantime could not play due to injury. Middle of the season, he then managed to jump into the starting lineup of the Browns, replacing Dennis Northcutt there. At the end of the season the Browns were then third in the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens and managed to not be a place in the play-offs. Edwards had then also injured at the end of the season at the knee and therefore had to use the entire summer break to get back to be fit in time.

Persistent failure with the Browns

Regenerated from his injury started Edwards then with the Browns on September 10, 2006 in the new season. During the season, then Edwards rose because of an injury to his goal Joe Jurevicius on the main wide receiver the Browns. He held this role then finally to the end of the season stopped and started a total of 61 passes for the Browns, who were the last at the end in the division. In the 2007 season finally followed Edwards final breakthrough. Through its captive passports he scored a gain of space of 1289 yards, which he was second in the NFL season behind Randy Moss. New York Jets

Arrival in New York

On 7 October 2009 Edwards moved to the New York Jets. The Cleveland Browns were given in exchange for wide receiver Chansi Stuckey to the linebacker Jason Trusnik, a third and a fifth- round pick in the next NFL Draft. In his first season with the Jets, he started with the help of rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez 35 passes for 541 yards and four touchdowns. These services ranged for second place in the AFC East and achieving the Wild Card playoffs. There, the Jets beat the Cincinnati Bengals before they could also defeat the San Diego Chargers in the second round. Edwards showed this rather poor performance and caught only four passes for 56 yards. Then the AFC Championship Game was on, in which the Jets faced the Indianapolis Colts. In the game Edwards was able to catch a 81- yard pass and thus achieve the first points for the Jets, but in the end won Indianapolis significantly with 30-17.

The 2010 season

In his first full season with the New York Jets Edwards was able to increase its performance again and played purely statistical point of his second-best season in the NFL. The Jets were the end of the regular season with Edwards again second in the AFC East behind the New England Patriots and managed thus again jump into the Wild Card playoffs. There they could take revenge on the Colts for the defeat in the last AFC Championship Game, which they succeeded by a narrow 17-16 victory. In the next playoff round, the Jets then had to play against the division rival New England. Edwards succeeded in beating the Patriots a touchdown and after an hour the Jets had then won with 28-21. The AFC Championship game had the Jets finally deliver against the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, this time remained the Jets by a 24-19 defeat of the way into the Super Bowl denied.

San Francisco 49ers

For the 2011 season, Braylon Edwards signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers. After a year he returned to the Jets in 2012 and changed the course of the season to the Seattle Seahawks.
