Brestovec, Myjava District

Brestovec (Hungarian Brezóvölgy ) is a municipality in western Slovakia.

Location and General Description

The municipality is located in the hill country between the Little Carpathians in the south and the White Carpathians in the north near the border with the Czech Republic and about 2 kilometers north of the regional capital Myjava. Nové Mesto nad Váhom is located about 30 kilometers east of the community and Senica about 20 kilometers to the west.

The municipality was established on April 1, 1955 as a spin several hermitages of the city Myjava. The name refers to a well-known since the Middle Ages settlement in this area.

Transport links

Through the municipal area in 1927 opened railway line Nové Mesto nad Váhom - Veseli nad runs Moravou (stop Svítkovci ) with the 2987 -meter-long tunnel to Vrbovce. The track is from the Slovak Railways Železničná spoločnosť ( ZSSK ) served hourly. Furthermore, the community is connected to the regional bus network.
