Jablonka, Myjava District

Jablonka (translated " young apple trees ", which is due to the many apple trees in the municipality, Hungarian Szvancairtvány ) is a municipality in western Slovakia.

Location and General Description

The municipality is located in the hills between the more southerly Little Carpathians and the northern encountered White Carpathians. Nové Mesto nad Váhom is located approximately 25 kilometers east of the community, Myjava about 7 kilometers north-west, Senica about 20 miles northwest. The highest point in the municipality is mount Lipovec with 499 meters. The municipality is divided by the river Jablonka, the near Piešťany flows eastwards into the Waag.

The village was founded in the second half of the 16th century in the wake of the influx by the invasion of the Turks in Hungary. 1690 the name Jablonka was first mentioned in writing, the community was officially established but only on April 1, 1955 as a spin- out of the city Myjava and is next to the main town ( Jablonka centrum), who had rather developed until then as a hermitage, nor from 25 following settlements:

Large parts of its territory is covered by forest ( about 285 acres ) and are used for forestry. The other parts are used for agriculture in particular. Here, stands next to the private cultivation of crops of all kinds, self-catering, commercial cultivation of wheat, corn and beets in the foreground.

The flag is seen from above 1/6 yellow, 2/6 white, 2/6 blue and 1/6 yellow. The municipal coat of arms is in the middle of a fish - as a symbol of the creek Jablonka - and two apples, representing the surrounding apple trees.
