Březová (Karlovy Vary District)

Březova ( German Pirkenhammer ) is a place in Okres Karlovy Vary ( Czech Republic) with about 500 inhabitants on the river Teplá. To the west of the village lies the dam Březova.

History

The village was established around the 17th century by the local mills and iron foundries. It was first mentioned in 1615 Petschauer dominion land register. Until 1713 hammer belonged to the land of Funkenstein. In the 18th century a paper mill and in 1803 a porcelain factory was founded. In the village lived mostly German, who were expelled after World War II, mostly.

Nationwide awareness attained the place by the " Protect mill ", a popular destination of the Karlovy Vary spa guests and by the porcelain factory Pirkenhammer.
