Bruno Hunziker

Bruno Hunziker ( born February 10, 1930 in Winterthur, † 27 March 2000 Aarau home right in Oberkulm and Aarau ) was a Swiss politician and business lawyer. He presided from 1984 to 1989, the Free Democratic Party.

Cantonal politicians

After studying law at the University of Basel Bruno Hunziker opened a law office (1957-1968) and was FDP parliament of the canton of Aargau ( 1965-1968 ). After merely three years in the Grand Council Hunziker was elected to the Aargau cantonal government in 1968, where he remained until 1976. He was at first the Building Department, later the Department of Health before. He developed, inter alia, Aargau Hospital and energy concept. 1970/71 led Hunziker as Landammann Aargau government.

National politicians

From 1977 to 1987 Hunziker was the National Council and Council of States from 1987 to 1991. He also led his own law office again and was a member of several boards. He he was particularly interested in the economic, health and energy policy, as well as for state political basic questions. From 1984 to 1989 he was president of the Free Democratic Party ( FDP). In his Präsidialzeit the FDP employed with the 10th AHV revision, joining the UN in Switzerland, the equality of women and new technologies. Under his leadership, the first liberal people's initiative to tax relief for families was launched. He put accents in nuclear policy. He was considered a unifying figure of his party. In 1984, Bruno Hunziker next to Elisabeth Kopp Federal official candidate of the FDP, said Kopp was elected. Hunziker was then party president.

Return in the economy

After his retirement from politics, he was director of the Motor-Columbus AG and advisor to several companies. He presided over the Swiss Energy Foundation and was briefly a columnist for the newspaper Aargau.
