Brunswick East, Victoria

Brunswick East is a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. The district is part of the administrative area ( LGA) City of Moreland.

Geographical location

The district Brunswick East is located approximately six miles north of the " Central Business District ". The boundaries of the district in the west by the Lygon Street and Holmes Street, on the east by the Merri Creek, on the south by the Park Street, Nicholson Street and Glenlyon Road and to the north by the Moreland Road. Brunswick East has both residential neighborhoods and business areas.

History

In 1839 the city's surroundings Brunswick, including the area now Brunswick East, examined. In an area 1 mile ¼ mile times plots were staked out, most of which were bought by speculators.

A significant settlement of the area took place in the 1880s and in the period after the First World War. In 1916 a tram along Lygon Street was built between Brunswick and Brunswick East and electrified.
