Bubble Boy (film)

Bubble Boy (alternatively: Bubble Boy - Life behind plastic) is an American comedy film directed by Blair Hayes from the year 2001.

Action

The 17 -year-old Jimmy Livingston suffers from an immune deficiency, so he must be living in a room, surrounded by a sterile plastic bag spend. His strong religious mother controlled his life.

As a child, Jimmy befriends the new neighbor Chloe. Chloe says one day she would soon marry at Niagara Falls Mark. Jimmy holds the man for a complete idiot. The disappointed Jimmy throws Chloe out of the house and grabs later from a gift that suggests that Chloe loves him. He decides to Chloe in a big transparent plastic ball (or even bladder), which continues to protect him, nachzureisen to stop the wedding and Chloe to confess his affection.

Jimmy expects a veritable odyssey - yet he learns on the way to Niagara Falls know many people, including the US-led Slim biker gang, a bus full of crazed cult members, freed freaks from a freak show and an Indian ice cream vendor. In Germany the film is only available as an import DVD with original, although there is a German dubbed version. Thus, the film was repeatedly aired on ProSieben, RTL 2 and the ORF in German translation.

Reviews

Michael Wilmington in the Chicago Tribune wrote that the film was " amazingly tasteless "; full of " cruel jokes ", " stupid characters ", " schmaltzy sentimentality " and " senseless situations ."

The lexicon of the International film wrote that the film was a " sentimental comedy" that instrumentalisiere a serious illness "for their entertainment purposes."
