Bud Luckey

William " Bud " Luckey ( born July 28, 1934 in Billings ) is an American animator and illustrator.

Life

Luckey took as a soldier of the U.S. Air Force as part of the Korean War and until 1957 worked as a graphic designer and illustrator, among others, for NATO. After the end of his time in the army, he studied from 1957 to 1960 at the Chouinard Art Institute animation. Among his teachers was kind Babbitt, for whom he worked as an assistant after graduation. From 1961 to 1969 Luckey was hired as an animator at an advertising agency, for which he created numerous commercials. He was also involved as an animator on commercials choice for presidential candidate John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy and Hubert Humphrey. In 1969, Luckey founded his own animation studio The Luckey - Zamora Picture Moving Company. With Don Hadley, he worked in subsequent years on numerous short animated films for Sesame Street. End of the 1980s merged Luckeys animation studio with Colossal Pictures.

In 1992 he came to Pixar, where he worked as an animator, involved among other things, on films such as Toy Story and Toy Story 2, for which he designed the character Woody. In 2003, Luckey directed her first: For Boundin ' - A sheep 's wool from the 2004 he received an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short Film.
