Burgberg im Allgäu

Burg im Allgäu ( officially: Castle Hill i.Allgäu ) is a municipality in the Swabian district of Upper Allgäu region.

The municipality is located in Castle Hill i Allgäu Oberallgäu. At Castle Hill includes the following districts: Ortwang, houses, Agatha cell, on the Ried and Erzflöße.

History

The name derives from the name of the village is the castle on the mountain - castle ruins today Heimenhofen at the southeast end of the village. As early as 1140 this castle was the seat of Burkhart of Castle Hill. From 1351 to 1536 this castle was the seat of the Lords of Heimenhofen. Burg im Allgäu belonged to the Bishopric of Augsburg.
