Burgthann–Allersberg railway

The railway line Burgthann - Allersberg was an approximately 15 kilometer long branch line, which began in Thann castle on the main line between Nuremberg and Regensburg.

History

Planning and construction

Plans for a connection to the railway network Allersbergs saw before the end of the 19th century routes from Nuremberg, Ochenbruck or Roth, was finally realized by the Bavarian State Railways, the branch of the railway line between Nuremberg and Regensburg in Thann castle. The line was finally opened on 15 December 1902.

Closure

The closure of the route had already been decided by the German Federal Railroad in the 1970s. The dilapidated state of the bridge over the main road 8 accelerated this project, so that on June 2 In 1973, the last train of the " Allersberger Bockls " the station of Allersberg.

The route today

After dismantling the track, large parts of the route have been converted to a walking and bike path. The former railway station of Pyrbaum and Allersberg are inhabited today. Elsewhere, 33 years later, taken on 6 December 2006, the new station Allersberg ( Rothsee ) on the high-speed line Nuremberg -Ingolstadt in operation. The Thann castle station was built back to a holding point and continues to serve as a station on the route between Nuremberg and Neumarkt.

Between the S -Bahn stations Burgthann and Oberferrieden at kilometer 77.8 of the route Regensburg Nuremberg near the village Ezelsdorf the gravel bed is still available from the branch of the branch line to Allersberg, as a now overgrown by trees and wild growth bridge. It was used earlier to agricultural vehicles.
