Butchered at Birth (English for slaughtered at birth ') is the second studio album by American death metal band Cannibal Corpse. It was published on 1 July 1991 and in 1994 was seized nationwide in Germany.

Background

The album was indexed in Germany by the Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young and later confiscated nationwide. A seizure order pursuant to § 131 of the Criminal Code of the AG Stuttgart on 3 March 1994 relates to sound recordings, covers and promotional materials. The original cover showed two zombies with aprons. One of the zombies holding an infant in her hands. The other edits a gutted and almost completely skeletonized woman with a knife. The table on which the woman lies is covered with blood and guts. Hang from the ceiling more babies, partly as skeletons or without arms and / or legs. The cover artwork was designed by artist Vincent Locke. Later in Germany appeared a defused version with and without neutral Cover Texts.

Special

  • As a guest vocalist Glen Benton of Deicide acted in the song Vomit the Soul.
  • In 2002, the album was re-released as a remastered version, which additionally contains a live version of " Covered with Sores ".
