History

The parent club was founded on 30 October 1921. Byåsen Idrettslag is with about 2,000 members a maximum of Trondheim's sports clubs. The nine departments of the association are sports for children, football, athletics, handball, orienteering, skiing, cycling, training, and theater.

Byåsen Håndball Elite ( Handball Department)

History

The handball section of the club was not until 1940. 1980 attracted the ladies department of Byåsen first sensation when you moved in as a third-tier surprisingly the Norwegian Cup final. Two years later the team for the first time rose to the Norwegian Elite Series; after a new year Second League in the 1983/84 season the club then established himself in the highest Norwegian league. In 1987 the club won the first championship, followed by four more since then. However, it never succeeded Byåsen to win a European Cup.

In the new millennium Byåsen fell more and more behind Larvik HK. 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007, the team was always runner-up.

Ski

The ski department is divided into two categories: cross-country skiing and ski jumping / Nordic combined. 5 club members participated in the 2006 Olympics in Turin. Tor Arne Hetland and Kristin Mürer Stemland in the long run, Magnus Moan and Petter Tande in the Nordic Komlination and Tommy Ingebrigtsen in ski jumping. The biathlete Lars Berger and Ole Einar Bjørndalen which also compete in the long run intermittently, are also members.
