California State Route 2

The California State Route 2 (short- CA 2 ) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California, which runs west-east direction. Sections run along U.S. Route 101 and the Foothill Freeway.

The State Route begins in Santa Monica right on the Pacific Ocean, at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard. From here it runs north-east on Santa Monica Blvd. until it reaches West Hollywood. Along the way it crosses the San Diego Freeway and Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills. From the intersection of Holloway Drive in West Hollywood State Route moved further east on Santa Monica Blvd. until, after passing the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, on U.S. Highway 101 meets. Here it joins with Highway 101 and follow it south-eastwards to Alvarado Street Exit. There, the State Route Highway exits back to the Glendale Freeway to drive in a northerly direction across Echo Park. On the as Glendale Freeway section designated, the direction of the Golden State Freeway and the Ventura Freeway will extend to the northeast, crossed. After the State Route the Ventura Freeway has crossed, it crosses the eastern part of the city of Glendale and meets, after about 4 miles, on the Foothill Freeway in the city of La Cañada Flintridge. Here she joins for a 3/4 mile to the Foothill Freeway and leaves again at Angeles Crest exit. On the Angeles Crest Highway State Route leaves the metropolitan area and reaches the Angeles National Forest in the San Gabriel Mountains. Here she writhes, for the rest of the way, on many tight bends through the mountains and passes on the Dawson Saddle the highest point ( 2395m ) around the track. Due to the weather, large parts of the State Road in the San Gabriel Mountains from mid-December to mid-May are locked. On the Islip Saddle, there is a junction with the CA -39, but which can not be used because the northern part of CA -39 is locked. The State Route 2 finds its eastern end at the junction with the CA -138 just outside the town of Wrightwood.
