Cameron Jerrell Newton ( born May 11, 1989 in Savannah, Georgia ) is an American football player. He won in college area with the team of Auburn University in the season 2010/2011 the National Championship Bowl Subdivision of the NCAA and the championship of the Southeastern Conference. In addition, he was awarded this season with the Heisman Trophy and the Maxwell Award and several other distinctions. Since 2011 he plays in the NFL for the Carolina Panthers.

College years

Cameron Newton was born in 1989 in Savannah and played in the 2007 and 2008 in a total of six games at quarterback for the Florida Gators, the college football team of the University of Florida in the Bowl Subdivision of the National Collegiate Athletic Association ( NCAA). Due to an injury he came into the 2008 season, which ended for the Florida Gators by winning the national championship, but only in the opening game used. In the draft of the National Football League Cameron Newton was late April 2011, selected as the first players from the Carolina Panthers, with whom he completed a four-year contract in June 2011. Since September 2011, he belongs to the starting lineup of the team.
