Camaret-sur-Mer

Camaret -sur -Mer ( Breton Kameled ) is a commune and a fishing port in the far west of Brittany, in the Finistère with 2618 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). The municipality is located on the peninsula of Crozon near the Atlantic coast in the Regional Natural Park of Armorica (French Parc naturel régional d' Armorica ).

Geography

Brest is located 15 kilometers north-west, Quimper 47 km southeast of Paris and about 510 km to the east. At Le Faou and Châteaulin are the next departures of the highway E 60 (Nantes- Brest) and, inter alia, in Châteaulin, Quimper and Brest, as are the nearest railway stations. At Brest there is a regional airport.

Attractions

  • The Vauban tower since 2008 belongs together with other works in the whole of France, a UNESCO World Heritage Site " Fortifications of Vauban ".
  • In the immediate vicinity is the chapel of Notre- Dame de Rocamadour, whose oldest parts date back to 1527.
  • On the southwestern outskirts of the village are the stone rows of Lagatjar, an array of 72 menhirs in three rows.
  • Also recommended is a walk along the coast path to the Pointe du Toulinguet and on to the Pointe de Penhir.
