Cameron Island

Cameron Iceland is an island of the Queen Elizabeth Islands and part of the territory of Nunavut in Canada. It is located east of Borden Island and west of Amund Ringnes Island, and south of the Ellef - Ringnes Island. To the south in just four kilometers from the Île Vanier, separated by the Arnott Strait. The Cameron Island is 1059 km ². In the southeast it reaches a height of 244 meters.

The island was named after Donald Cameron, a surveyor of Scottish origin, together with the Americans Archibald Campbell led by boundary measurements from 1872 to 1876.

The company " Panarctic Oils Ltd.. ", A Canadian consortium of industry and government promoted on Cameron Iceland 1985-1996 2.8 million barrels of oil. In 2013 it was announced that the Canadian government is planning to invite tenders for the Bent Horn oil field for renewed exploitation.
