Candice Wiggins

Candice Dana Wiggins ( born February 14, 1987 in Baltimore, Maryland, United States) is a professional basketball player. She currently plays for the Minnesota Lynx in the Women's National Basketball Association.

Career

College

Candice Wiggins played from 2005 to 2008 for the Stanford Cardinal, the women's basketball team at Stanford University. Already in her first season for the Cardinal she scored 17.5 points per game. In addition, she won with the Cardinal 32 of 35 games and led the Cardinal to the Regional Final, where the Cardinal failed at Michigan State University.

In its second season, Wiggins was able to improve their scores average to 21.8 points per game and led the Cardinal back to the Regional Final, where the Cardinal failed this time at Louisiana State University.

In 2007, she missed some games due to injury and their points average dropped to 16.9 points per game. With the Cardinals, they had already failed in the second round at Florida State University.

In its fourth season for the Cardinal reached the Final Four, where the Cardinal first met on the University of Connecticut for the first time. This game was the Cardinal clear win with 82:73, so Wiggins was the first time in her career in the final of the NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament. In the final they met on the University of Tennessee, which was due to their strong squad around Candace Parker as the clear favorite in the final. In the finals, the Cardinal finally failed with 46:64 clearly at the University of Tennessee.

Candice Wiggins was selected by the Minnesota Lynx in the third position in the WNBA Draft 2008. The 2008 season is their first season in the WNBA.
