Canzone Napoletana

The Neapolitan folk music (in Neapolitan: A ' Canzon Napulitana ) is in the Neapolitan dialect written and is already established in the Middle Ages. There are songs for dreaming (including love songs ) and fast (such as the tarantella ).

History

The mix of classical music and folk music, the older Neapolitan folk music emerged.

In the 19th century came the breakthrough. 1839, the song Te voglio bene assaje from the text by Raffaele Sacco, composer Filippo Campanella. The fact that later spread the legend, Gaetano Donizetti was the author illustrates the proximity of this song type to Italian opera of the time, which is also evidenced by the continuing popularity of songs like " O Sole Mio " in the famous tenors program. Te voglio bene assaje was presented at the Festa di Piedigrotta on 7 September 1839.

Many of these songs appeared in Neapolitan music publisher of Ferdinando Bideri (1851 - 1930), who has a lot of original material of the canzone napoletana today. Baron Bideri held lyricists such as Libero Bovio, EA Mario, Ernesto Murolo, Salvatore Di Giacomo, Ferdinando Russo, Rocco Galdieri, Pasquale Cinquegrana and Edoardo Nicolardi under contract, under dn composers who worked for him are Mario Costa, Eduardo Di Capua, Vincenzo Valente, Salvatore Gambardella, Ernesto De Curtis, Vincenzo De Crescenzo and Francesco Buongiovanni mentioned.

Since the 1950s, is also danced by this music. Old melodies were provided with rhythm and have thus lost their original character.
