The CN -235 is a tactical turboprop airplane from a joint project of the Spanish CASA and the Indonesian IPTN. The consortium was named Airtech ( Aircraft Technology Industries, later extinguished ).

Description

The development took place at CASA. The CN -235 MP is manufactured in Spain by CASA CN-235 MPA IPTN in Indonesia.

In this series there was a so-called Maritime Patrol Aircraft, which was equipped according to requirements with various control and monitoring devices. The first flight took place in 1983; the first aircraft entered service in 1988.

The built Casa CN -235 MP in Ireland, Turkey and Spain ( The Spanish Army also listed as C -235 ) in use and with the FLIR FLIR - 2000HP system equipped (infrared vision system ). The FLIR-Sender/-Empfängerteile are clearly visible under the nose of the aircraft. Furthermore, these machines have a Northrop Grumman Litton display, connected to a AN/ALR-86 ( V) electronics support, and a measuring system APS -504 (V) 5 - radar.

In agreement with the Turkish government, it was agreed that the CASA CN -235 MP is manufactured by Turkish Aerospace Industries ( TAI ) in Ankara. TAI made ​​in the years 1991 to 1998, a total 50 machines under license from Casa.

The made ​​in Indonesia CN -235 MPA is used in Brunei, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia. The Indonesian Navy has six and the Indonesian Air Force three machines in use. These machines are equipped with AMASCOS ( Airborne Maritime Situation Control System) including the manufactured by EADS Germany Ocean Master search radar.

From both types of aircraft numerous civilian versions were produced. More than 280 machines of all versions of CN -235 are in use and have without incident around 500,000 flight hours.

2002 was developed in collaboration with the Lockheed Martin / Northrop Grumman Group ( USA) version of the CN -235 -300M, which is produced at CASA and equipped with a supplied by Rockwell Collins electronic flight management system with liquid crystal multi-function display. The U.S. Coast Guard that identifies the aircraft as an HC - 144A Ocean Sentry, planning the procurement of 36 aircraft. So far, 14 are currently in operation, the first of which was delivered in December 2006. 2013 another machine was ordered, to be delivered in 2015.

Due to the delays in the Airbus A400M ordered France first 19 CN -235 -200 machines and increased the order in April 2010 for an additional eight CN -235 -300.

Since the integration of military aircraft division of CASA in Airbus Military and the C -235 belongs to the Airbus range.
