Cateel, Davao Oriental

Cateel is a metropolitan area municipality in the province of Davao Oriental and is located on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. It has 38 579 inhabitants ( census May 1, 2010 ) living in 16 barangays. It belongs to the second class of income communities in the Philippines and is considered as partly urbanized.

It lies north of Mati City on the east coast of the island of Mindanao and is accessible via the coastal road from there. The municipality covers an area of 545.56 km ² and the terrain is valid until the coastal strip as mountainous. Are parts of the nature reserve Aliwagwag Protected Landscape in the municipal district.
