Cecil Brooks III

Cecil Brooks III ( born August 16, 1961) is an American jazz drummer and composer.

The son of drummer Cecil Brooks II and grandson of the concert pianist Cecil Brooks I learned as a child to know the music of Philly Joe Jones and Art Blakey, who frequented his parents' house. In the late 1980s he worked, inter alia, with Greg Osby, Geri Allen and Lonnie Plaxico. Was released in 1989 with The Collective, his first album as a leader, which was joined by another in rapid succession. In addition, he also works as a composer and music publisher and runs a jazz club in West Orange / New Jersey.
