Cecil Smith (figure skater)

Cecil Elaine Eustace Smith ( born September 14, 1908 in Toronto, † 1997) was a Canadian figure skater who started in a single run and pair skating.

Cecil Smith in 1925 and 1926 Canadian champion in figure skating ladies. Five times she became vice - champion, where they are usually lost to their toughest competitor Constance Wilson - Samuel. Smith made only at a single World Cup in part, namely, 1930 in New York, where he was once vice-world champion behind Sonja Henie and before the U.S. champion Maribel Vinson. This marked the first medal win for Canada at World Figure Skating Championships. Smith was in 1924 in Chamonix, the first woman, who represented Canada at the Winter Olympics. She was at that time 15 years old and was in the single competition and sixth in the pair competition along with Melville Rogers, Seventh. 1928 in St. Moritz they played their second and final Olympic Games and finished it in fifth.
