Central Finland

Central Finland (Finnish Keski -Suomi [ ˌ kɛski suɔmi ], swedish Mellersta Finland) is one of the 19 landscapes in Finland. It consists of the northern part of the historic landscape Häme and the westernmost part of Savo. Since 1997, Central Finland is part of the province of Western Finland, before it formed its own province. Central Finland is geographically considered south of the center of Finland, since Lapland is considered as a separate geographical unit. Administrative seat and largest city of Central Finland is Jyväskylä.

Communities

Central Finland is divided into 23 municipalities ( kunta ), six of which the status of city ( kaupunki ) have. The area refers to the area of ​​land (as of 1 January 2013), because of the associated lakes represents only a subset of the total area in general. Population figures as at 31 December 2012:
