Cercanías Murcia/Alicante

The RENFE Cercanías operated Murcia / Alicante (Catalan Rodalia de Múrcia - Alacant ) connect the major cities of Lorca, Murcia, Elche and Alicante and smaller towns in the region together. Despite the Cercanías logos used officially it is not in the strict sense to an S- Bahn network. There is no power but there are three in a row hanging together, largely single-track lines. Electrified is only the short line C-3 from Alicante to San Vicente del Raspeig.

Every hour on weekdays drive line C- 1 along its entire route from Alicante to Murcia and C-2 line from Murcia to Lorca. Line C- 3 runs less frequently and without fixed clock. On the section of the C-2 line from Lorca to Águilas finally weekdays each run a total of three pairs of trains. During the holiday period from 1 July to 31 August, there are six pairs of trains.

After the opening of the lines C-1 and C-2 in 1984 to existing railway lines, the line C- 3 followed in 2007. The network is to be expanded. It plans to electrify the routes and expand twofold. Further line is extended C- 3 to Villena. In addition to the main train station Alicante created a shortcut to the light rail Alicante and Murcia at the main train station with its tram.
