CF Brăila

CF Brăila is a Romanian football club from Brăila. History

CF Braila was in 1922 under the name Dacia Brăila - named after the former province of Dacia romänischen who had been on the present territory of Romania - was founded. Shortly thereafter Dacia merged with local rivals Unirea Braila ( Unirea is the Romanian word for union). However, both teams played until 1928 under its original name further before they formed a joint team under the name Dacia Unirea Brăila.

After the team had previously participated only at the regional championships over the years, she could qualify for the first time as the winner of Galaţi region for the final round, where Dacia Unirea but the eventual champions Juventus Bucharest subject with 0:16 doors in 1930.

As the second highest Romanian football league that Divizia B, was founded in 1934, Dacia Unirea was one of its founding members. After several re- renaming in Energia Braila ( 1956), Dinamo Braila ( 1957) and Industria Sârmei Braila ( 1958) played the club since 1960 under the name of CSM Braila ( workers' sports club) back in Divizia B. This was one of the club with two one-year breaks for the seasons 1963/64 and 1967/68 uninterruptedly until 1990. During this time, the club name was changed several times, so that the club after Progresul Braila ( 1962 Progress), Laminorul Braila (1963, rolling mill ), Constructorul Brăila (1965, Manufacturer ), again Progresul Braila ( 1967) and FC Braila ( 1975) from 1980 under the name FCM Progresul Braila ( Braila workers Football Club progress ) took.

In 1990 Progresul managed to return to the Divizia A, followed by the beginning of the 1990s, joined the most successful period of the club. After relegation in the 1990/91 season under the change in the association's name Dacia Unirea Brăila back in the team succeeded in the 1991/92 season with sixth place their best result ever.
