Chibly Langlois

Chibly Cardinal Langlois ( born November 29, 1958 in La Vallée- de - Jacmel, Haiti) is a bishop of Les Cayes.

Life

Chibly Langlois, who came from a poor family, received on 22 September 1991, the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Diocese of Jacmel. From 1993 to 1994 he was also director of the diocesan pastoral ministry. Until 1994 he was vicar of the local Cathedral of St. Jacques and St. Philippe. The interested particularly in pastoral Langlois 2000 was professor of pastoral theology, which he remained until his episcopal appointment.

On April 8, 2004, Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of Fort - Liberté. In solemn consistory of 22 February Pope Francis took him a cardinal priest with the titular church of San Giacomo in Augusta on the College of Cardinals.

Chibly Langlois is the first ever native of Haiti cardinal.
