Chlum (Rokycany District)

Chlum is a municipality with 51 inhabitants ( 2008) in the Czech Republic. It is located 13 kilometers north of Zbiroh in Radnitzer Bergland and belongs to Okres Rokycany. The land area is 854 ha

Geography

The place is located in 441 m asl at the southern foot of the Hamouz (470 m) on the right side above the Berounka. The steep banks of the Berounka is west of the village was declared a nature reserve Chlumská stráň. East of the Biosphere Reserve begins Chlum Krivoklatsko.

Neighboring towns are Podmokly and Zvíkovec in the northeast, Sádky in the east, in the southeast Mlečice, Prašný Újezd ​​in the south, Kladruby in the southwest, and Hřešihlavy Třímany in the West, Hlince, PTIC, Dolany and Studena in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village dates from 1379th On the basis of grave mounds can be a prehistoric settlement from the period 700-400 BC show.

1850 lived 301 people in the village. Since then, the population has plummeted. In 1900 there were 259 and by 1950 their number decreased to 157. This trend is continuing even further, since the traditional method, here agriculture hardly feed the residents and the youth migrate because jobs are missing. Until 1924 Chlum was a district of Zvíkovec.

The former school was converted into a municipal office and guest house. A lot of the houses are used for recreational purposes as vacation rentals.
