Kamenec (Rokycany District)

Kamenec ( German White Green ) is a municipality with a population of 50 in the Czech Republic. It is located three kilometers north of the city and belongs to Radnice Okres Rokycany. The land area is 175 ha

Geography

The place is located in 362 m asl in the valley of Radnický creek creek at the mouth of Chomelský. To the northeast lies the hill Babina (423 m ) south of the Hradek (500 m).

Neighboring towns are Nový Mlýn in the north, Svinná in the northeast, Hlohovice in the east, and Mostiště Chomle the southeast, Radnice in the south, Svatá Barbora in the southwest, Němčovice in the west and Lhotka u Radnic in the northwest.

History

White Green was founded in 1760 on the estates of the rule Liblín by Baron von Ledebur. The Baron allowed the clearing of the forests in the river valley to the settlement of German miners and sulfur ironworkers who built 20 houses there. Next owners were the Dukes of Nassau, of which Liblín passed with the associated villages at the beginning of the 19th century, the Count Wurmbrand. In the period was an extension of the mining operations and the oleum factory was enlarged. In addition, produced in white green vitriol and phosphorus. From the highly toxic wastes Oleumfabrikation color was obtained which had the designation Engelsröte. 1845 lived in the village of 275 people in 50 houses. After the replacement of patrimonial White Green belonged since 1850 to the municipality Niemtschowitz. In the same year the Auersperger acquired the mines and factory. After years of upswing followed the decline and 1891 Oleumfabrikation has been discontinued and instead began production of artificial fertilizers. 1904 terminated the last Alaunhütte West Bohemia of operation. Following closure of the fertilizer factory in 1906, the plant acquired a year later, the company Simon Hoffmann from Pilsen, the production of red color from sulfur pyrites resumed with only ten workers. During the First World War, the pyrite mining was resumed and set after the war. Since then the shafts are flooded.

After setting up the coal and steel industry, the place oriented by its location in a valley bewaldelten on tourism.
