Chom Bueng District

Amphoe Chom Bueng ( Thai: อำเภอ จอมบึง ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the province ( Changwat ) Ratchaburi, Central Thailand. It lies in the north of the province.

Geography

Neighbouring districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Dan Makham the Tia and Tha Muang Kanchanaburi province and the Amphoe Photharam, Mueang Ratchaburi, Pak Tho, Ban Kha and Suan Phung Ratchaburi Province.

In the district there are several caves. The Khao Bin Cave is known as the most beautiful, in it there are many stalactites and stalagmites and a sacred lake. The cave is named after a rock formation that looks like a flying bird. When King Chulalongkorn ( Rama V ) in 1895, the province visited, he gave the Chomphon Cave its name because a stalactite an epaulette of a field marshal was similar.

History

King Chulalongkorn ( Rama V ) and Queen visited Saovabha 1895 Ratchaburi Province and thereby also the county Chom Bueng. When the king saw a beautiful, large lake, he called the Great Lake district or Chom Bueng and made ​​him a sub-district ( King Amphoe ).

In 1958 Chom Bueng received the full Amphoe status.

Management

Amphoe Chom Bueng is divided into six communes ( tambon), which in turn in 88 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Chom Bueng ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล จอมบึง ) consists of parts of the Tambon Chom Bueng,
  • Dan Thap Tako ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ด่าน ทับ ตะโก ) consists of parts of the tambon Dan Thap Tako.

There are six " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
