Damnoen Saduak District

Amphoe Damnoen Saduak ( Thai: อำเภอ ดำเนินสะดวก, literally Convenient travel ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the province ( Changwat ) Ratchaburi, Central Thailand. It lies in the east of the province.

Geography

Adjacent counties ( from east clockwise): Amphoe Ban Phaeo Samut Sakhon Province, Amphoe Mueang Samut Songkhram and the Bang Khonthi Samut Songkhram Province and the Mueang Ratchaburi Amphoe, Bang Phae Photharam and in the province of Ratchaburi.

Damnoen Saduak is the " Khlong Damnoen Saduak ," a canal ( Khlong ), which connects the Tha Chin River to the Mae Klong River.

Attractions

Damnoen Saduak is known for its floating market, which is not held every morning on a Khlong far from the District Office office. But has become a tourist attraction since the market by its proximity to Bangkok, he has lost much of its authenticity.

Management

The Damnoen Saduak District consists of 13 subdistricts ( tambon), which further into 105 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There are five small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Damnoen Saduak ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ดำเนินสะดวก ) consists of the whole tambon Damnoen Saduak, as well as parts of the tambon Ta Luang, Si Muen and Tha Nat,
  • Si Don Phai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ศรี ดอน ไผ่ ) consists of parts of tambon Prasat Sit, Si Surat and Don Phai,
  • Ban Rai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้านไร่ ) consists of the whole tambon Ban Rai,
  • Prasat Sit ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ประสาท สิทธิ์ ) consists of parts of the tambon Prasat Sit,
  • Bua Ngam ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บัว งาม ) consists of the whole Tambon Bua Ngam.

There are eight " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
