Chris Thompson (athlete)

Christopher " Chris " Thompson ( born April 17, 1981 in Barrow-in- Furness ) is a British long-distance runner.

In 2003 he occupied at the World Cross Country Championships in Avenches the 19th place on the short-haul and 2004 at the World Cross Country Championships in Brussels the 98th place on the long haul. In 2003 he was European U23 champion over 5,000 m, the following year he was British champion over the same distance.

At the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2006, he retired about 5000 m from the inlet port. In 2010 he was British champion in the 5000m and won at the European Championships in Barcelona, ​​the silver medal in the 10,000 m behind compatriot Mo Farah and before the contemporaneous Italian Daniele Meucci.

Christopher Thompson lives in Eugene (Oregon ) and starts for the club Aldershot, Farnham & District. He is coached by John Nuttall and Mark Rowland and supervised by PACE Sports Management.
