Daniele Meucci

Daniele Meucci (born 7 October 1985 in Pisa ) is an Italian long-distance runner.

He originally played football in the team of Navacchio, a district of Cascina. At the age of 17, he moved to the sport of running.

So far, he has been twice by Italian masters over 5000 m (2007, 2008), three times in the 10,000 m (2006, 2007, 2010 ) and twice in the hall about 3000 m (2008, 2009).

In 2006, he came at the European Championships in Gothenburg over 10,000 m to tenth place. In 2008 he finished 99th place at the World Cross Country Championships and was twelfth in the European Cross Country Championships in Brussels.

The following year he was fifth in the Stramilano, retired at the World Championships in Berlin about 5000 m in the run- off and came at the World Half Marathon Championships in Birmingham on the 18th Place. In the European Cross Country Championships in Dublin, he was ninth and won with the Italian team bronze.

In 2010 he was fifth in Roma - Ostia and eleventh in the Rome Marathon. At the European Championships in Barcelona, he won the bronze medal in the 10,000 m behind Farah Mohammed and the same time Christopher Thompson and finished sixth in the 5000m.

In 2012 he won the silver medal behind Polat Kemboi Arikan, which was at one time for Kenya under the name Paul Kipkosgei Kemboi at the European Championships in Helsinki. About 5000 meters he finished fifth.

Daniele Meucci is 1,78 m tall and weighs 62 kg. As a sports soldier he starts for CS Esercito, the association of the Italian army. He is coached by Luigi Principato, studied computer science at the University of Pisa and is engaged to a middle distance runner Giada Bertucci.
