Christiane Kohl

Christiane Kohl (* in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German singer of the vocal range soprano in opera, operetta and concert.

Life

Christiane Kohl grew up in Idstein. After graduating from the Pestalozzi -Gymnasium, she studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Lilian Suki and Elisabeth Wilke and put her diploma in 2003.

She had her debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2000 as First Priestess in Gluck's Iphigénie en Tauride, conducted by Ivor Bolton. At the Vienna Chamber Opera, she sang in 2001 for the 90th birthday of Gian Carlo Menotti in his presence the Laetitia in his opera The Old Maid and the Thief. From 2002 to 2009 she was a member of the Zurich Opera, where she, among other roles took over as Gretel in Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, Soeur Constance in Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmelites, Rosina in La finta semplice, Arminda in La Finta Giardiniera, Angèle Didier in Lehar's The Count of Luxembourg, Elvira in Rossini's L' Italiana in Algeri, Lisa in Bellini's La sonnambula, Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème, the first Lady in Mozart's the Magic Flute, as well as the Wagner roles Helmwige in Die Walküre and Third Norn in Götterdämmerung. In 2008, she appeared as Christine in the opera Intermezzo by Richard Strauss, conducted by Peter Schneider.

She entered first time in 2009 at the Bayreuth Festival on in the Wagner roles First flower girl in Parsifal, conducted by Daniele Gatti, Woglinde in both Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung, and Waldvogel in Siegfried, conducted by Christian Thielemann. She sang these games again in 2010.

In 2008, she starred in the Dresden Frauenkirche church with a recording of the Christmas Oratorio by Gottfried August Homilius, with the Saxon Vocal Ensemble and the Virtuosi Saxoniae, led by Ludwig Güttler.

With the Mixed Choir Zurich 2008, she sang Mozart's Requiem and Bach's Easter Oratorio with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, and in 2010 Bruckner's Mass in F minor.

In 2010 she sang for the first time at the Frankfurt Opera, the role of Helmwige in the new production of Wagner The Valkyrie. In St. Martin, Idstein she sang the soprano solo in Verdi's Messa da Requiem. In February 2011, she sang in the Union church of her hometown the first soprano in Mendelssohn's Hymn of Praise. In 2011 she sang for the first time the role of the Countess in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro in Klagenfurt. She sang the title role in The Bartered Bride at the Komische Oper Berlin. Since the season 2011/12 she is part of the ensemble at the Dortmund Opera House and appeared there in the first production of the new opera director Jens -Daniel Herzog, as Senta in Wagner's The Flying Dutchman, conducted by Jac van Steen, with Andreas Macco in the title role.
